Description

Meadow House is a house, likely originally a farmhouse, dating to the late 16th and early 17th centuries. It has undergone alterations, including the addition of a left-hand cross wing in the mid-20th century. The original layout forms an "L" shape, comprising a long main range and a cross wing projecting forward to the right. The older part is timber-framed and plastered, with some colourwashed brickwork on the right-hand wing, and has a pantiled roof. The house is two storeys high with an attic. Windows are mostly mid-20th century casements. A mid-20th century corner porch provides access to a boarded and battened entrance door. The left-hand gable of the main range retains two original moulded mullion windows. Inside, the interior has been modernised but retains some good exposed framing and joists, along with some original doors. A carved beam, dated 1613, is positioned over a ground-floor fireplace, and is believed to have been imported. Two internal stacks serve the main range and a gable end stack is on the right-hand wing.
