Description
Red House Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th to early 17th century, with an early 19th century wing added to the south. The main range has two later wings extending to the west, creating a U-shaped plan. The building is timber framed and plastered, while the south wing features a red brick facade and a tarred brick gable end, topped with a pantiled roof. It stands two storeys high with an attic in the north wing.
The south facade has two windows, which are 20th century three-light mullion and transom casements with segmental arches. The doorway includes a six-panel raised and fielded door with a rectangular fanlight above, as well as panelled reveals, a frieze, and a cornice topped with a small flat hood. There is a brick eaves dentil cornice as well.
Inside the south wing, there is an internal stack with four flues arranged in a cruciform pattern on a square base, which also features a cornice of bricks set in a diamond pattern. The main range contains several well-preserved 18th century small pane windows and an internal stack. The north wing has an original mullion window located at first floor level.
