Description
Wood Farm House is a former farmhouse with a core dating back to the 16th century, which was partly rebuilt in the 18th century. The right-hand section is timber framed and mainly covered in cement render; this part served as the parlour until the 18th century when a lean-to was added and it was converted into a dairy with a cheese loft above. The rest of the house was rebuilt in 18th century red brick and features a plaintiled roof. It has two storeys and an attic, structured in a three-cell form. The house has three windows, which are 19th and 20th century casements, and two boarded doors, with the left door set in a gabled brick porch. There are three mid-20th century gabled dormers, and an internal stack along with a gable stack on the left side. The dairy end remains unmodernised, showcasing complete first-floor framing except for the end wall, which has been removed. There is one original six-light window with cavetto mullions and part of a second window that is blocked. The central room features an open fireplace with an original lintel.
