Description
White Lodge and The White House is a building that was originally a single house but has since been divided into two. It has a core dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with an early 19th-century facade and a mid-19th-century extension at the rear. The structure is timber framed and plastered, featuring slates on the front and pantiles on the rear.
The right-hand wing is two storeys high and designed in the Gothick style, with three windows that include casements with hood moulds. The ground floor has two 4-light casements with traceried, 4-centre arched heads that incorporate leaded glass. There is a central doorway with a six-panel door that has raised and fielded panels, along with a rectangular fanlight featuring segmental and radiating glazing bars. An open wooden porch supported by square panelled columns and panelled pilasters has 4-centre arch openings, a cornice, and a flat roof. This wing also has one internal stack.
The left-hand wing is two storeys with an attic and has one window range featuring sashes with glazing bars and flush frames. It includes a two-light bow window on the ground floor and an external stack on the gable end. Both wings are adorned with a decorative wooden fascia along the guttering.
