Description
This is an 18th-century terrace of four cottages situated on the north-west side of Friars Street. The cottages are constructed of brick, which has been painted, and have a slate roof. Yellow brick chimneys are present. The eaves are toothed and feature a band located a short distance below. The buildings are two storeys in height with five windows at the first floor level, alongside two blank panels. The entrances and windows are topped with segmental arches, and the windows are largely casements with glazing bars. Number 34, known as Joan Coster, has a wooden shop front. The cottages are included in the list for their Group Value, reflecting their collective significance within the streetscape. A photograph of number 32 is held within the National Monuments Record. Numbers 24 to 28 and numbers 32 to 68 form a group.
