Description
Nos 5, 6, and 6A on Market Hill are a building dating from 1692, located on the north side of the street. The structure features a 19th or 20th-century front that covers an older timber-framed building. It stands three stories tall and includes five windows, with a central stone canted oriel window that extends through the first and second floors. The exterior is finished in white brick with red dressings, which include pilasters and panels. A plaster cove cornice with a pediment is positioned above the oriel window, and the building has a slate roof. The ground floor is occupied by modern shops, while the east wall facing the Black Boy courtyard reveals exposed timber framing. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 6 and 8 to 22, the Black Boy Hotel, and the Town Hall.
