Description

These are an early 19th century pair of buildings, numbers 10 and 11, on Market Hill. Number 10 has two windows, and number 11 has three, and they are considered a single architectural unit spanning five windows. The buildings are constructed of yellow brick with flat arches over sash windows which retain glazing bars. Horizontal bands run along the facade. Number 10 has a modern shop front, while number 11 retains an early 19th century shop front with plate glass. The eaves are wide and supported by triple brackets, and the roof is covered in slate. Number 10 has been painted, which detracts from the symmetry of the facade. The buildings are included on the list for their group value with numbers 1 to 6 (consecutive), numbers 8 to 22 (consecutive), the Black Boy Hotel, and the Town Hall.
