Description
The Black Boy Hotel is a 17th-century building located on Market Hill. The front was restored in 1901, featuring a large gable on the second floor above twin first-floor mullion transom oriel windows. There is also a small second-floor gable and a three-light first-floor mullion window situated above a four-centred arched carriageway, which is ceiled with massive hewn beams. The building has leaded windows and a tiled roof. Inside, it boasts massive hewn moulded beams, heavy joists, and chamfered crossbeams. The hotel has local historical significance. The Black Boy Hotel, along with Nos 1 to 6 and 8 to 22, and the Town Hall, forms a group of listed buildings.
