Description
The Westminster Bank, located at Market Hill, was built in 1692 and later altered in 1903 by architects Cheston and Parkins. This two-storey building features a combination of brick and stone, with two one-light square-headed dormers set in a slate roof that is topped by a stone balustraded parapet above the main cornice. The ground floor is distinguished by stone Doric half-columns flanking five windows and the entrance, which is adorned with a stone sculptured case. The lower part of the building has purple brick below the ground floor windows and at the first floor, which contains seven sash windows with glazing bars set in red brick cases. All the listed buildings on the south side of Market Hill form a cohesive group.
