Description
A row of terraced buildings dated 1692, located on East Street. The buildings were constructed to house workers in the silk weaving trade. The row comprises a central three-storey block (numbers 63-68) and flanking two-storey blocks. The construction is predominantly mid-19th century gault brick with some red brick dressings, and a slate roof. The central block features sash windows with glazing bars on the ground floor and characteristic wide window openings of three lights on the first floor, originally intended as workrooms. The third storey has two-light casements. The flanking blocks have double-hung sashes with glazing bars.
