Description
Hawthorne, Girton and Hildon is a building located on Hall Street in Long Melford. Originally a medieval hall house with an open hall, it was altered in the 16th and 17th centuries. The structure is timber-framed and plastered, featuring cross wings on both the north and south sides. In the 19th century, it was refronted in gault brick and underwent significant alterations. The building stands two storeys high and has a window arrangement of 1:2:1, with double-hung sashes that do not have glazing bars. The ground storey includes canted bays in the cross wings, while the central block features a 19th-century shop front. The roof is covered with old tiles.
