Description

LAVENHAM CHURCH STREET 1. 5377 (north-west side) No 81 TL 9149 50/532 23.1.58 II* GV 2. A Georgian red brick refronting of circa 1750 to a mediaeval timber-framed building, similar in style and date to that of No 92 (The Willows). There are end pilasters and a stuccoed parapet with a modillion cornice which is carried round the north-east side. Two storeys. Three window range of double-hung sashes with glazing bars. The outer ranges are 2 storeyed splayed bays of 3 windows with alttached Tuscan columns between the windows. The centre part breaks forward slightly with a Venetian window on the upper storey surmounted by an open pediment. A central 6-panel. door approached by stone steps has a fine wood doorcase with a semi-circular fanlight with fan glazing bars, deep panelled reveals, plain Tuscan attached columns and an open pediment. The north-east side has 2 window range. Roof tiled, hipped. There is a modern extension at the rear. The interior has exposed beams and open fireplaces
