Description
No. 81 on Church Street is a Georgian building, dating from around 1750, which features a red brick front that conceals an earlier medieval timber-framed structure. It shares a similar style and date with No. 92 (The Willows). The façade includes end pilasters and a stuccoed parapet with a modillion cornice that extends around the north-east side. The building has two storeys and a three-window range of double-hung sashes with glazing bars. The outer sections have two-storey splayed bays with three windows, separated by attached Tuscan columns. The central section protrudes slightly and features a Venetian window on the upper storey, topped with an open pediment. A central six-panel door is accessed by stone steps and is framed by an elegant wood doorcase that includes a semi-circular fanlight with fan glazing bars, deep panelled reveals, plain Tuscan attached columns, and an open pediment. The north-east side has a two-window range, and the roof is tiled and hipped. There is a modern extension at the rear. Inside, the building has exposed beams and open fireplaces.
