Description
The Black Lion Inn is a grey gault brick building dating from around 1830. It is located on the corner of Church Walk and Westgate Street, next to the 19th-century Westgate Terrace to the west. The inn has three storeys and features a south front with a four-window range and a canted bay that extends through all three storeys at the east end. The east front has a three-window range, with double-hung sash windows that include glazing bars, all set in plain reveals. The south front is slightly set back at the west end, which includes one window range and an elliptical arched carriageway on the ground storey. The ground storey windows are three-light, and the roof is hipped and covered with slate.
