Description
Almacks is a timber-framed house dating from the 16th to 17th century, but it has been completely refronted with 19th-century red brick. The building features cross wings that project slightly at both the north and south ends, with an extension to the north. It stands two storeys high with attics and has a window arrangement of 2:2:2, featuring double-hung sashes with glazing bars set in plain reveals, topped with square label moulds. The ground floor windows are fitted with louvred shutters. The gables of the cross wings are adorned with 19th-century cut and pierced ornamental bargeboards. The northern extension of the cross wing retains an original chimney stack, which has grouped octagonal shafts with moulded brick caps and bases. Additionally, there are two external chimney stacks at the southern end, each with two octagonal shafts. The roofs are tiled.
