Description
Moss Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the 17th century and was restored in the 20th century. It features a timber-framed structure that is rendered, with part of the building underbuilt in brick. The roof is covered with plain tiles, and there is a red brick chimney stack. The cottage is a single storey with an attic, and the gable end facing the road is underbuilt in painted brick. It has 20th-century windows, with a three-light window on the ground floor and a two-light window above. The right side of the cottage has two 20th-century doors. The roof has a half-hipped mansard design with a central stack. Notably, the cottage was used as a studio by the young artist John Constable and has been restored by the East Bergholt Society. The interior has not been inspected.
