Description

This is a house, now divided into two dwellings, likely dating from the early 16th century, with alterations in later periods. The building is timber-framed and rendered, with Garden Cottage partially underbuilt and faced with painted brick. It has a plain tile roof and red brick stacks. The building is arranged as two storeys in an L-shape, with Garden Cottage forming a cross wing.

Whitehorse Cottage features a central door sheltered by a bracketed tiled porch. C20 casement windows are fitted beneath hoodmoulds on both floors. The roof is steeply pitched and hipped on the left side, with a large ridge stack to the right and a later stack to the left. Garden Cottage has tripartite sash windows with glazing bars, also under hoodmoulds. It has a studded gable with bargeboards. On the right return, a low central projecting gable porch is topped by a date plaque from 1904. The interior framing of Whitehorse Cottage is concealed, and neither interior was inspected. The building formerly operated as the White Horse Inn before being subdivided.
