Description
The Haywain is a cottage that has been converted into a shop and café. It likely dates from the 17th century, with 18th century and later alterations. The building is timber-framed and rough rendered, with the front covered in brick. It has a plain tile roof and is one storey high with an attic. The central part features a 20th century shop front, with an additional shop window to the left and a plank door with a casement window to the right. The attic jetties out to the left and there are three flat dormers. There is an off-centre ridge stack and a later stack at the left end. At the rear, there is a cross range with dentilled eaves. A previous listing noted a plasterer's date of 1780 with the initials C and S S. The building is included for its group value.
