Description
These cottages, numbered 23 and 24 Water Street, likely date from the 15th and 16th centuries. Locally known as the Flemish Weavers Cottages, although there's no historical record of Flemish weavers working in Lavenham, the building is timber-framed and plastered, featuring a cross wing extending to the north on Barn Street. The roof is tiled. A large external red brick chimney stack with offsets is situated at the west side of the cross wing. The timber framing is visible on the front elevation. The cottages are one storey in height with attics, and have small casement windows. A gabled dormer window is visible on the main block.
