Description

Teazle Cottage is a timber-framed and plastered building dating from the 15th and 16th centuries, located on Water Street in Lavenham. The building was restored, revealing the timber framing. It is two storeys high. The upper storey has a jettied overhang supported by exposed joists and curved brackets, featuring some moulded capitals and remains of shafts. This upper storey has two leaded casement windows, one with a bar and transom, alongside some restored high-level flanking windows, one of which is blocked. The ground floor has two bar and transom leaded casements and a smaller central leaded casement. An internal chimney stack is situated on the north side, incorporating two diagonally-set shafts. The interior features exposed beams and open fireplaces.
