Description
The White House and No 48 (The Granary) are located on the north side of The Street in Chelsworth. The White House is a 17th-century timber-framed building that was refronted in early 19th-century painted brick. It has a slate roof and stands two storeys high, featuring a four-window range of double-hung sashes with glazing bars. Some of the original timber frame is visible on the inside. No 48, known as The Granary, was originally a granary connected to The White House. It is an 18th-century or early 19th-century painted brick building with a tiled mansard roof, also two storeys high with attics. It has a three-window range of double-hung sashes with glazing bars, although the centre window is blocked. A modern pantiled extension extends from the north-west end.
