Description
The Peacock Inn is a 16th century timber-framed and plastered building located on the north side of The Street in Chelsworth. It features a cross wing at the east end and has a tiled roof with a prominent 16th century ridge chimney stack that has three octagonal shafts. The main block consists of one storey and attics, while the cross wing has two storeys and attics. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars. The cross wing was likely jettied on the upper storey and was extended in the 18th century, which included the addition of a shop front with a central double door flanked by double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. Additionally, there is a gabled dormer on the main block.
