Description
Princhetts is a building located on the north side of The Street in Chelsworth, likely dating from the 16th to 17th century. It features a timber-framed and plastered structure with cross wings at both the east and west ends, although it was refronted in the 19th century with painted brick. The building is two storeys high and has a window arrangement of 1:4:1, consisting of double-hung sashes with glazing bars. The central doorway is flanked by plain pilasters and topped with a cornice. The west wing includes a three-window range of casements and a six-panel door with an architrave and moulded cornice. There is a modern extension to the north that has dormers. The roofs are tiled, and the front features a dentilled brick eaves cornice. The central block has a 17th-century chimney stack with grouped diagonal shafts, and there is another chimney on the east wing, while the west wing boasts a large ridge chimney stack.
