Description
Middle House, also known as The Old Manor, is a building located on the north side of The Street in Chelsworth. It is believed to have originally been a timber-framed and plastered structure from the 15th to 16th century, featuring cross wings at both the east and west ends. However, it has undergone significant alterations and renovations in the 19th century. The west cross wing was modified, with a second gable added, while the east cross wing was extended to the north. The main hall block is one storey with attics, and the cross wings are two storeys high. The building has modern casement windows and features an early 19th-century porch supported by cast iron clustered "Gothic" columns. The roof is tiled, with two gabled dormers on the central block and three gabled dormers on the east side of the east cross wing.
