Description

The Church of All Saints is a Grade I listed building located in Chelsworth. This church dates back to the 14th century, with some additions and alterations made in the 15th century. It is constructed from flint with stone dressings, although it is currently faced in cement. The west tower features a castellated design and diagonal buttresses. The nave consists of three bays supported by piers with four attached shafts and moulded arches. Above the chancel arch, there is a restored 14th-century doom wall painting. A notable feature of the church is the recessed 14th-century canopy tomb of Sir John de Philibert, who was the Lord of the Manor until 1351 and died in 1359. The church is recognized for its historic and architectural significance.
