Description
Tudor Cottage is a house dating from the 16th to 17th century, with a cross wing that was reconstructed in the early 20th century. The building has undergone later alterations, including the rebuilding of the right gable end wall and the addition of a porch. It features a timber frame, with parts underbuilt or infilled with brick and some areas rendered. The roof is covered with plain tiles, and there are red brick stacks. The house is two storeys tall and has an L-plan with a jettied cross wing. The exterior displays close-studding and an arched down brace above the middle rail to the right, with reused timber in the cross wing. There are 20th-century casement windows and a 20th-century porch on the left return. The roof has a steep pitch with swept shapes. The chimney has been rebuilt and features paired diamond stacks in the cross wing, along with an additional stack at the rear. Inside, the rear range contains an inglenook with a bressummer and chamfered beams. There is a blocked four-light diamond mullion window on the first floor, jowled posts, and a studded rear wall. The roof structure includes clasped purlins with wind braces. The building is included for its group value.
