Description

The Beeches Farmhouse, located approximately 100 metres west of the Folly Lane junction in Claxton, dates to the 18th century. It is a whitewashed brick farmhouse with a steeply pitched roof covered in black glazed pantiles. The building is arranged over two storeys and an attic, following a lobby entrance plan. The windows are irregular, featuring 2 and 3-light casements. The ground floor openings have segmental heads. An off-centre gabled porch provides access via a 4-panel door and features a semicircular fanlight. The porch gable is finished with a parapet and decorative eaves corbels. A platband runs around the floor level, and the gable ends have platbands at their bases. A square axial brick stack has a rendered base. There are attic casements in the gables, and a ground floor sash window with glazing bars in the west gable. A rear lean-to section is covered with slate and includes two tall red brick chimney stacks. A gabled, single-storey range, also pantiled, extends to the south.
