Description
St George's School is a former workhouse for Forehoe Hundred, later a hospital, and now serves as a boarding school. It was built in 1777 and is constructed of brick with modern pantiled roofs. The building features projecting end-wings and a five-bay central projection, which includes a further three-bay pedimented centre-piece. It has two storeys and a total of 21 bays. Originally, there was an open arcade on the ground floor, which has since been glazed. The windows are sash style with glazing bars and are set beneath segmental arches. The roofs are hipped.
