Description
Thwaite Hall is a house that dates from the 17th century and later. It features a rendered timber frame and a pantile roof, with an L-shaped plan. The southern facade has three gabled bays, is two storeys high with attics, and includes 20th-century casements set in 20th-century openings, all with hood moulds. There is a central timber porch with a casement in each adjoining bay and three casements on the first floor, along with a casement in each gable. The west facade consists of four bays, also two storeys, with regular 20th-century fenestration and hood moulds, featuring 20th-century casements. The rear wall has two stacks, with the southern stack having three octagonal shafts and the northern stack having two shafts. The north gable of this range displays a double ovolo moulded bressumer beam with bar stops. There is a later lean-to at the rear. Inside, the west range has its timber frame exposed, with ovolo moulding on the transverse beam. The roof of this range features two rows of butt-purlins with arched wind braces, while the roof of the south range is likely from the 18th century.
