Description

The Corn Exchange was built in 1849. It is a large building faced in stucco, designed in a classical style. The front elevation features a massive entablature which projects from the centre and is supported by two pairs of large Tuscan columns, with pilasters flanking the ends. A moulded architrave sits above a wide central entrance, which has double doors, each with six panels, and a rectangular fanlight above. A rectangular panel is set within a moulded architrave above the entrance. The main body of the building behind the front façade is constructed of brick, with a slate roof. The interior is simple and includes roof lights.
