Description

The Church of St. Margaret is a parish church located on Church Road in Kirstead. It dates back to around 1200, with significant rebuilding completed in 1864 by H. Hayward. The church is constructed of flint with stone dressings and features a tiled roof. The 19th-century west tower is embattled, while the nave, which is medieval, includes a south doorway that has a restored inner arch supported by imposts. This doorway features one order of colonnettes, although the bases are not visible, and one capital adorned with a water leaf motif. The nave windows were added in the 19th century, and the chancel, which includes an apse, was also completed in 1864. Inside, the furnishings and roof are from the same 1864 restoration.
