Description
19 and 21 Market Street is a pair of shops from the early 18th century. They are built of colourwashed brick and topped with a pantile roof. The building has two storeys and a dormer attic. The shop fronts, which are early 20th century, feature prominent fascia boards, with the shop front at number 19 being more recent. The first floor has six bays, with three blind recessed panels; the right panel displays a sign for a clothing shop. There are three 3-light 18th-century casement windows with glazing bars, which have been repaired. A timber eaves cornice runs below the gabled roof, which has two hipped dormers, although the eastern dormer is currently missing its roof. A central ridge stack is present, and there is a rear cross wing that is an addition. Inside, the roof features one tier of taper-tenoned butt purlins and renewed collars.
