Description
The Old Hall is a farmhouse dated 1664, located on the east side of The Street in Marlingford. It features an 18th-century L-shaped side extension and a 20th-century rear extension. The building is constructed of brick and has black pantiled roofs. It stands two storeys tall with an attic. The early 19th-century facade has roughly five bays of 20th-century sash windows with glazing bars and blind boxes beneath skewback arches. There is also a 20th-century rectangular bay window with sashes. The central front door has raised and fielded panels and is framed by a pedimented doorcase, topped with a moulded cornice. The original north gable end, which was formerly crow-stepped, has a later external stack and a re-set moulded-brick datestone. There is an original gable-end stack on the south side as well. The steep-pitched roof retains three gabled dormers at the rear. The 18th-century side extension is two storeys high, featuring a plinth, plat-band, dentiled cornice, and a hipped roof.
