Description
Green Farmhouse is a former farmhouse dating from the late 16th century, which has undergone extensive refurbishment in the late 20th century. The building features a rendered timber frame and a pantiled roof, following a lobby entrance type plan. It stands two storeys high with an attic. The windows are varied, primarily consisting of late 20th century three-light casements with horizontal glazing bars. There are, however, two original windows that have hollow chamfered mullions, as well as one three-light 18th century window that has a metal casement and horizontal glazing bars inserted into what was originally a mullioned frame. The front door is located opposite the axial stack, and there is a rebuilt winding stair on the entrance side of the stack, positioned in its original location. The timbers are of heavy scantling with wide chamfers and simple stepped stops, and there are moulded corbels supporting the principal beams. Although the roof has been rebuilt, one queen post truss to the north of the stack and one clasped purlin truss to the south remain, indicating that the first-floor room to the north of the stack was originally open to the roof.
