Description

Saxlingham Hall is a former mansion, now operating as a nursing home, dating to the 18th century with Victorian additions. The building is constructed of brick with black pantile roofs. The original 18th-century house is two storeys with an attic, originally featuring four bays. It has sash windows with glazing bars set beneath skewback arches. A two-storey Victorian porch is present, featuring a curvilinear gable and rectangular hood moulds over the openings. There are two gabled dormers. The north side has a curvilinear gable, and the south side has a Victorian two-storey flat-roofed canted bay with three bays of sash windows with glazing bars beneath skewback arches. A central axial stack incorporates three Victorian octagonal shafts. The interior includes an 18th-century staircase with turned balusters and shaped tread ends. The Victorian additions do not possess particular architectural merit.
