Description

The Old Forge is a former smithy, likely associated with the Bracon Hall estate, and dates from around 1830. It is constructed of brick with some stone details and features black pantiled roofs. The building has a symmetrical layout, with a pair of low gabled forewings that flank a courtyard, which is now enclosed by a makeshift structure. There are two blind windows on the gable ends of the forewings, set beneath skewback arches with cambered soffits. The forewings and the main wing have pedimental gables, complete with stone kneelers and copings. An oculus is present in the main pediment, and there is a large axial stack on the main wing. The style of The Old Forge is similar to that of Bracon Hall, located at Bracon Ash.
