Description

This is a thatched cottage, part of a former lobby-entrance type house that was divided into two properties. Number 1 was destroyed around 1980. The cottage dates to the 17th century and is constructed with a rendered timber frame and a thatched roof. It is a single-storey building with an attic. The main entrance is opposite a brick axial stack, and a 20th-century porch now fronts the entrance. There are two two-light windows on the ground floor, one with horizontal glazing bars, and two three-light dormer windows above, also with horizontal glazing bars. The brick stack contains an original winding stair with a facetted newel on the entrance side. Inside, original beams are visible, featuring stepped stops. Upstairs, the overmantel is decorated with pargetted vine scroll friezes.
