Description
Kenningham Hall is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century and later. The main wing is constructed of colour-washed brick, while the rear wing features a brick-faced timber frame. The building has pantiled roofs and is designed in a T plan with a cross wing, which is the main wing built around 1800, and the original farmhouse now serving as the service wing. It stands two storeys high and the main wing consists of three bays with sash windows that have glazing bars and jalousie shutters above, and single vertical glazing bars below. The central entrance features a panelled front door with a single doorcase and a semicircular fanlight above. The building has a sawtooth cornice and gable-end stacks. The service wing includes 19th-century casement windows with glazing bars and has 19th and 20th-century lean-tos on either side. The roof of the service wing is shallow-pitched and dates from the 18th century, with a 17th-century axial stack. Inside, there is a fine hall staircase that is apsidal in plan, featuring a mahogany handrail and square-sectioned balusters. The service wing contains ovolo moulded and plain chamfered beams, and there are remains of a pargetted overmantel with medallions and lozenges in the larder.
