Description
No. 86, formerly the Falcon Public House, is a 17th-century building located on the north side of West End in Costessey. It features colourwashed brick and a pantiled roof, standing two storeys high with an attic. The facade is mainly from the 19th century, characterized by wide segmental arched windows and a dentilled cornice. The window frames were replaced in the late 20th century. The original 17th-century door frame has broad chamfers and ogee stops. The building has one off-centre axial stack and one gable end stack. The steep pitched roof retains one 19th-century flat-headed dormer with casements. The gables are stepped, and there is a long single-storeyed wing with a stepped gable that runs at right angles to the main block. There are 20th-century extensions at the rear.
