Description
The Seething War Memorial is a First World War memorial that includes a later addition for the Second World War. It is located on the green outside the churchyard of the Church of St Margaret. The memorial features a slender stone wheel-head cross atop a collared octagonal shaft. This is set on a rectangular plinth with a cornice and moulded base, which rests on a deep rusticated square base.
The front (south) face of the pedestal has a black-painted inscription that reads:
IN MEMORY OF/ THE SEETHING MEN/ WHO FELL IN THE/ GREAT WAR/ 1914 - 1918/ (NAMES)/ LET THOSE WHO COME AFTER THEM/ FORGET NOT THEIR NAMES.
The east face is inscribed with:
IN MEMORY OF/ THE MUNDHAM & / SEETHING MEN/ WHO FELL IN THE/ SECOND WORLD/ WAR 1939 - 1945/ (NAMES)/ "WE WILL REMEMBER THEM."
The north face bears the inscription:
1914 -1918/ (NAMES)/ REMEMBER THEM.
