Description

The terrace wall, piers, steps, and cast iron urns at the southeast front of Ketteringham Hall date from the late 17th century. The structure is built of red brick with stone elements. There are seven octagonal piers, each approximately 3 meters high, with rendered bases and stone onion caps. The wall slopes steeply to the first pier to the southwest, while the fourth and fifth piers are set forward and feature a flight of seven stone steps. At the south end of the terrace, there is a pair of mid-19th century painted cast iron urns, each about 0.8 meters high, adorned with floral and scroll decorations. The eastern urn has handles near the base, which rise from a pair of masks.
