Description

Riverside House is an early 17th-century house extended or partially rebuilt in the mid 17th century. The building is constructed of brick and flint, with a pantiled roof. It is two storeys with an attic, and has a single-storey section with an attic to the side. The main facade has three bays, with a gable end stack. The window openings date to the 19th century, although they contain 20th-century frames. The front door is also from the 19th century. Surviving original windows are small, two-light openings with brick mullions located in the gable. Modern extensions have been added to the rear of the house.

The interior features angle roll-moulded principal beams with jewelled stops in the earlier section, and chamfered beams with jewelled stops in the later phase. A 17th-century chamfered door frame is present on the first floor, with its original planked door. The attic space is divided into three cells, with a partially ceiled area. This attic contains chamfered principal rafters with collars and butt-purlins, as well as original stud partitions.
