Description
Thatched Cottage is a 17th-century building located on the west side of The Street in Costessey. It is constructed of brick and features a thatched roof with rendered gable ends. The cottage is designed as a lobby entrance house with a central axial stack and has a 19th-century facade. It consists of one storey with an attic and includes two wide 19th-century segmental arched windows with casements. At the rear, there is a full-length outshut from the 18th century. The windows in the gable were added around 1970. The original stack remains, although it has later fireplaces. Inside, the ceiling beams have ogee and nicked chamfer stops. The original roof features butt-purlins and former collars. Additionally, there is an 18th-century fitted corner cupboard with later panelled doors.
