Description
Wheatacre House is a former rectory built in the late 18th century. It features red brick construction and pantiled roofs, with a hipped roof over the front range. The building has two and a half storeys and a T-shaped plan, with the main facade facing south and consisting of five symmetrical bays. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, and there are gauged skewback arches above the openings. The central doorway is adorned with an open pediment supported by pilasters and includes a semi-circular fanlight with radiating glazing bars. The door itself has six panels and a panelled reveal. A wooden modillion eaves cornice runs along the top, and there are two chimney stacks symmetrically placed behind the ridge line. The east, west, and north sides feature brick dentil eaves. To the north, there is a two and a half storey range with sashes and casements that also have glazing bars, along with an internal chimney stack at the north gable. The west side has two gabled dormers, while the east side includes two catslide extensions with a lean-to in between, featuring 19th-century casements with segmental heads. A single sash with glazing bars provides light to the staircase.
