Description
22, 22A, and 24 White Lion Street is a building that dates back to the 17th century and has been significantly altered in the 19th century. Originally, its use is unknown, but it currently houses three shops and a restaurant on the upper floor. The building features a painted brick exterior and a pantiled roof, following the street line. It is two storeys tall and has five double hung timber light sash windows on the first floor, along with three modern shopfronts on the ground floor. There is a central chimney, and recent repairs have indicated that the front wall may be timber framed. Inside, there is a moulded chamfered bearing on the first floor, and the 17th-century roof is partly visible, showcasing a tie beam with chamfered stops in the roof space. This building is included for its group value.
