Description
The Former Masonic Hall, located at No. 47 St. Giles Street, is an early 20th-century building designed by Albert Havers. Constructed from Bath stone, it stands two storeys tall and features five bays. The central entrance is framed by attached rusticated Tuscan columns and a rusticated surround, topped with a semi-circular fanlight and a curved broken pediment that includes a central pedestal. A stringcourse runs along the first floor, above which six columns support a heavy entablature. The building has sash windows with glazing bars throughout, and the ground floor showcases rusticated pilasters and window surrounds with keystones. The first floor features pedimented window surrounds. A central pediment adorned with masonic emblems spans three bays, and the structure is finished with a parapet. Additionally, there are four dormers with flat roofs and casement windows that also have glazing bars.
