Description
The Old House is a house that has been converted into a school, built in the early 19th century. It features red brick construction with some rendered details and a hipped pantile roof. The building stands three stories tall and has five windows on the first floor. The entrance includes a six-panelled door, two of which are glazed, set in panelled reveals. This door is framed by a moulded and rusticated architrave with a keyblock, topped by an open pediment supported by consoles. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are adorned with rusticated lintels on the ground and first floors. A moulded eaves cornice adds to the architectural detail. There are later red-brick extensions on both the right and left sides, along with several additions at the rear. Inside the main range, the doors feature six raised and fielded panels, and there is a cut-string staircase with turned bannisters and dado rails. Although there are no obvious details that can be dated, the house was noted as 'de novo aedificta' around 1689.
