Description

21-25 Old Grove Court is a large house dating from around 1720, with extensive later additions. It is constructed of red brick and features a pantiled roof with two gable-end brick chimneys. The main section of the house has two storeys and five first-floor windows. A late 19th-century brick porch with a glazed roof and windows on the side walls is flanked by contemporary canted bay windows. The first-floor windows are sashes with glazing bars set in moulded architraves. The front has a coved eaves cornice, while the rear features a modillion cornice and shaped gables.

To the left is a later 18th-century extension that rises three storeys and has two first-floor windows with glazing bars beneath flat gauged brick arches. This section also includes a late 19th-century ground-floor bay and a wood and glass conservatory, along with a coved eaves cornice. A hipped roof with a 20th-century crenellated tower has been added to the rear, encasing an 18th-century chimney. The rear also features an 18th-century doorcase with a broken pediment and a decorated fanlight. To the right, there is an early 20th-century (Edwardian) extension that is two storeys high, with mid-20th-century additions to the north. The interior, which was not inspected during the resurvey, is noted for its fine early 20th-century decorative plasterwork, including festoons and panelling, as well as a staircase with turned balusters.
