Description
TG 2006 N HURD ROAD 34/398 5.6.72 Eaton Old Hall (Flats 32-43) - (Formerly listed as Eaton Hall, Pettus Road). - II Large house, now flats. Early C19 extension of an earlier building (?) Yellow brick; hipped slate roof; brick chimney. L-Plan. 2 storeys; 5 first-floor windows. Panelled part-glazed double-leaf doors in central round-headed recess are flanked by fluted quarter columns and 2 Tuscan columns supporting a C20 hood with plain entablature. Half-glazed side panels to porch. Coved niches to right and left. Tall large-paned sashes with horns in round-headed recesses on ground floor. First-floor windows have sashes with glazing bars. Later square-fronted 2-storey bay in similar style set askew to left. Overhanging eaves and central pediment. Garden front to left has round headed recesses, sash windows with glazing bars, and central double-leaf doors flanked by three-quarter columns under a fanlight with radial glazing bars and a truncated entablature with guttae. Later square-fronted bay to right. Brick range with pantiled roof to rear of front wing has patches of brick and flint rubble in the end wall, suggesting an earlier building, now remodelled. Eaton Old Hall lies within a C20 housing development in the former grounds of the house.
