Description

Eaton Old Hall, now divided into flats (32-43), is a large house that dates from the early 19th century and is an extension of an earlier building. It is constructed of yellow brick and features a hipped slate roof with a brick chimney, forming an L-Plan layout. The building has two storeys and five first-floor windows.

The central entrance has panelled part-glazed double-leaf doors set in a round-headed recess, flanked by fluted quarter columns and two Tuscan columns that support a 20th-century hood with a plain entablature. There are half-glazed side panels to the porch and coved niches on either side. The ground floor features tall, large-paned sashes with horns in round-headed recesses, while the first-floor windows have sashes with glazing bars.

To the left, there is a later square-fronted two-storey bay set at an angle, and the building has overhanging eaves with a central pediment. The garden front to the left includes round-headed recesses, sash windows with glazing bars, and central double-leaf doors flanked by three-quarter columns beneath a fanlight with radial glazing bars and a truncated entablature with guttae. A later square-fronted bay is present to the right.

At the rear of the front wing, there is a brick range with a pantiled roof, which shows patches of brick and flint rubble in the end wall, indicating the presence of an earlier building that has since been remodelled. Eaton Old Hall is situated within a 20th-century housing development that occupies the former grounds of the house.
