Description
A pair of houses, later converted into flats, dating from the mid-18th century, with an addition from around 1800 and a further extension built later. The building is constructed of yellow brick with red dressings and some areas of tuck pointing, and has a pitched tiled roof behind a parapet. It is three storeys high, plus a basement, and is six bays wide overall. A two-storey, two-window wing was added around 1800 to the right, and a later three-bay, single-storey extension to the left. The entrances are in the second and fifth bays of the central block, with red dressings. The right-hand entrance has a projecting, mid-19th century pilastered porch with a cornice and margin glazing, leading to a six-panelled door. The entrance to the left has an architraved surround with fine mid-18th century consoles, each enriched with a cherubic face; the hood is a replacement, and the doorway has a square, gauged head with a half-glazed door. The windows are square-headed, with flush frames and sash windows (some with horns), mostly retaining their original glazing bars. A coped parapet tops the building. A partial inspection of the interior revealed contemporary panelling.
