Description

Castle Chambers is an office building dated 1877, as indicated by a plaque. It is constructed of yellow brick and features a hipped slate roof with a hipped dormer. The building stands three storeys tall, plus a half basement, and has five bays, with the three central bays projecting forward. The plinth, quoins, and pilasters exhibit horizontal rustication. The sash windows are topped with flat arches that are decorated with floral roundels and the monogram CHS, along with flinted architraves and hood moulds. The central door is framed by a segmental pediment supported by paired consoles and scroll brackets. Above the three central bays, there are cornice brackets beneath a moulded cornice.
